Katahdin Hair Sheep International
KHSI is a progressive breed society that emphasizes continuing education among its member shepherds and practical performance in sheep. Be sure to visit the Katahdin NSIP Breeders' Group page that explains Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) and the important new maternal productivity EPDs for the Katahdin breed. A concise, one-page version of the Mossy Dell Farm web site is our KHSI Breeder Page.
National Sheep Improvement Program
NSIP collects performance data from purebred producers and provides them with across-flock EPDs, an industry standard for reliability, integrity, and accuracy. Breeders use these EPDs to guide their breeding selections and to provide the best stock, trait by trait, to the commercial sheep industry and other purebred breeders.
Farming Magazine: People, Land, Community
Published by Amish writer and farmer David Kline, his family, and friends, this quarterly journal's mission is supporting human-scale and sustainable farming and a diverse, larger community.
Innovative Farmers of Ohio
IFO
is dedicated to fostering the economic, social, and environmental well-being of Ohio’s farms, farm families, and rural communities and protecting Ohio’s land and waterways.
Pharo Cattle Company
We are not cattle breeders, but we like Kit Pharo's philosophy of breeding for practical production qualities, environmental fitness, and efficient maternal ability. Kit uses EPDs sensibly, as one selection tool, and not just to stack growth beyond an optimum point. |
